You can use CLAN's WebData feature to browse the database over the web.

• Download and install CLAN and QuickTime and a Unicode font.
• Start CLAN and go to the "Windows" pulldown menu and select "WebData"
• Doubleclick "TalkBank" for adult data and "CHILDES" for CHILDES data.
• Select a corpus and then files to browse.
• For AphasiaBank and GailBank, you will need a password which you can get from Brian MacWhinney.
• When the file opens, put your cursor at the top of the file and type escape-8. (That is an escape key, then a release of the escape key, and then the 8 key).
• To stop, put your cursor in the QuickTime window, click and close with control-W and then close the transcript with control-W. (Command-W on the Mac).
• If you have troubles, they are most likely due to the presence of a firewall, either on your machine or at your university.
